Common Issues and Solutions for STL 3D City Prints
Troubleshooting Guide for 3D Printing City Models

Experiencing issues while 3D printing your city models? Don't worry, common problems like adhesion troubles, stringing, or warped edges can usually be easily fixed. Below you'll find solutions to the most frequent printing challenges, ensuring your next print turns out perfect.

Adhesion Issues

Model doesn’t stick to bed

Solutions:

  • Re-level your bed.
  • Increase bed temperature by 5–10°C.
  • Add glue stick, painter’s tape, or adhesive spray.

Stringing

Thin plastic strings between buildings or towers

Solutions:

  • Enable or increase retraction distance (~2–5 mm).
  • Slightly decrease printing temperature (by 5–10°C).
  • Adjust print speed slightly upwards (~5–10 mm/s faster).

Warping or Curling Edges

Corners lifting from bed during print

Solutions:

  • Use a brim or raft.
  • Enclose printer or prevent drafts.
  • Increase bed temperature slightly (~65°C).

Poor Details / Blurry Surfaces

Detail loss, blurry edges, uneven layers

Solutions:

  • Decrease print speed (~40 mm/s).
  • Reduce layer height (to 0.1 mm).
  • Check nozzle cleanliness or replace if necessary.

Under-Extrusion / Missing Layers

Layers appear incomplete or weak

Solutions:

  • Check filament flow rate (adjust in slicer settings to ~100–105%).
  • Ensure nozzle isn't clogged (perform cold-pull or replace nozzle).
